How should I prepare for my flight?

It is essential that every passenger brings his or her passport , and we also recommend bringing sunglasses just in case. In addition, we recommend leaving at least 2 hours between your last mealand your flight, because flying with a full stomach can make some people nauseous. Finally, each passenger will need to bring enough cash pay for the airport tax, which is $10 USD in Nazca and Ica, and $4 USD in Pisco.

What type of aircraft do you use for the flights over the Nazca Lines?

For flights from Ica or Pisco, our flights will be on a Cessna Grand Caravan, an aircraft with 02 pilots and 12 passengers.

In Nazca, we organize flights on Cessna 206 and Cessna 172 aircraft. The Cessna 206 has 02 pilots and 04 passengers, while the Cessna 172 has 02 pilots and holds 02 passengers.

NazcaFlights.com is a tour agency, not an airline, so we do not own or operate any of the planes. We have mutually beneficial relationships with several of the airlines in the region; this allows us to work with those airlines that have demonstrated the utmost commitment to safety and a long-standing compliance with aviation industry regulations.

What time do the flights begin and end every day?

In Nazca, there are several flights per hour, from around 8:00 PM to approximately 3:00 PM. In July and August, early-morning weather tends to cause delays to the first flights. In other months, flights are available as early as 7:00 AM if weather conditions are favorable.

In Pisco and Ica, there are also several flights every hour from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Due to the large number of passengers who fly from these cities, and the limited number of available seats, it is important to reserve the tour far in advance whenever possible to guarantee available seats.

Will a tour guide accompany the passengers?

During your flight, the copilot will say the name of each geoglyph in english as you fly over it. But there is not a professional tour guide on any of the flights. Any agency or airline that suggests otherwise is intentionally misleading you. This is why we recommend that passengers read about the Nazca Lines before taking the flight - you will appreciate the flight even more when you have a greater understanding of the Nazca Lines.

What is the duration of flights?

In Ica and Pisco, the Nazca Lines flight lasts for 90 minutes. In Nazca, the classic Nazca Lines flight is 35 minutes, while the Nazca and Palpa Lines multi-destination flight is 55 minutes long.

However, the entire process of taking this tour is longer, because you will need to pay your airport tax, pass through security, wait for weather conditions to be favorable, and wait for the post-flight inspections and maintenance of aircraft to be performed. Clients should expect that the entire tour will take up to 2 hours in Nazca, and up to 3 hours in Pisco, including the length of the flight.

Why do passengers need to be weighed before a flight?

Peruvian aviation law - and the safety and well-being of our clients - demands that we respect the safety limits of the aircraft and that each passenger needs to be weighed in order to comply with this law.

For safety reasons, the airline has placed a weigh limit of 90 kilograms (200 pounds) per passenger for flights over the Nazca Lines. Passengers who weigh more than this, may need to pay an extra fee, or even purchase an extra ticket, depending on how much they weigh. When you contact us, please let us know as soon as possible the weight of the passengers in your party so that we can calculate if any additional fees will need to be charged.

Are the flights safe?

This is an important question, because in 2008 there were was a fatal accident in Nazca. It occurred on an airplane belonging to an airline that was ignoring the law: they cut corners, neglected their maintenance schedule, and would sometimes fly without emergency fuel. Flying without emergency fuel is a dangerous and illegal cost-saving method: carrying emergency fuel increases the cost of the flight to the airline, but it is an essential safeguard in case of emergencies.

There is no such thing as a 100% safe flight, but NazcaFlights.com has a company policy that greatly increases the safety of our clients: we only work with those airlines that demonstrate a sincere commitment to complying with aviation law and protecting the safety of the pilots and passengers. The airlines we work with are licensed and authorized by the peruvian government, and undergo regular inspections and maintenance. They have an in-house staff of mechanics, and independent third-party inspectors verify the safety of each craft after a certain number of flights.
