Chauchilla Pre-Incan Cemetery:

Summary: This is the most popular tour in Nazca, excluding the flights over the Nazca Lines. This tour will appear to archaeology buffs and fans of horror films:first, imagine a millenia-old cemetery that was looted centuries ago by tombraiders and graverobbers. These thieves stole all of the gold artifacts and ceramics, leaving only the bodies, which they considered to have no monetary value. Now many of these bodies, mummified by the hot, dry air of the Nazcan desert, are visible in their original tombs.

Warning: Due to the nature of the mummies and the skeletons, small children may find this tour disturbing. Everyone else will probably find it fascinating.

Cost: 40 soles per person for travellers who are by themselves, or 30 soles per person for groups of two or more people. Additional costs: 5 soles per person entrance fee to the archaeological site. Private tours are available upon request: contact us for a current price quote.

The Aqueducts of Cantalloc

Summary: Living in a desert required ancient cultures to be obsessed with their use and conservation of water. One of the ways these ancient engineers managed to stay alive was by creating a fantastic system of aquaducts below the ground that collect and channel water to their fields. Created in the shape of huge spirals, which tourists can walk down, these aquaducts are as fascinating for their historical value as for their amazing visual effect. The Aquaducts of Cantayoc (also referred to Cantalloc or Cantayo ) have amazed visitors for many years.

Cost: 25 soles per person per person for individual travellers, while two or more travellers travelling together pay just 20 soles each. Additional costs: A visit to the archaelogical site requires a fee of 10 soles per person.

Cahuachi : The Adobe Citadel

Summary: It looks like a simple compound of adobe ruins, but it hides the religious secrets of an ancient tribe: Visit the ruins of a major ceremonial center of the Nazca culture that is over 1800 years old. During religious ceramonies, the population of this site swelled to the thousands as worshippers came from all over the region. As you walk amongst the adobe buildings, a guide will explain to you the secrets of the area.
