Hike up Cerro Blanco, one of the largest sand dunes in the world, then sandboard down after practicing on smaller dunes near the top. The scenery is unforgettable, but the climb is physically demanding.
This tour starts very early to avoid the worst desert heat. It combines private transport from Nazca, a long uphill hike on sand, basic sandboarding on your stomach or back, and a return to Nazca later in the morning.

You will ride on your stomach or back. Professional boards with boots and bindings are not available in Nazca.
How the tour works
Transfer
Drive toward Cerro Blanco
Travel by car for about one hour east of Nazca, along the highway toward Abancay, until reaching the starting point for the hike.
Hike
Climb Cerro Blanco
Spend about 3 to 4 hours walking uphill on sand. This is the most demanding part of the tour and requires good physical fitness.
Practice
Small dunes near the top
At around 2,000 meters of altitude, practice basic sandboarding on smaller dunes until you feel comfortable with the board.
Descent
Sandboard down Cerro Blanco
Sandboard down the main slope on your stomach or back. The ride can cover nearly a kilometer before the walk back toward the car.
10-11 AM
Back to Nazca
Return by car to Nazca. Arrival is usually between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, depending on the pace of the hike and descent.
